KELLYVILLE PRE-K BUILDING

Kellyville, OK
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 4,000

BUDGET: $1.4M

YEAR COMPLETED: 2017

PROJECT STATEMENT: Kellyville Public Schools’ Pre-K facility was constructed to double as a FEMA-rated tornado safe room to accommodate 495 people. The building includes three large classrooms with “Jack and Jill” restrooms providing access from one room to the next. FEMA-rated shutters on the windows and exterior doors provide multiple escape routes should any door become blocked by debris. The efficient design eliminated the need for corridors, with each classroom accessed from a central gathering space. While the building’s exterior is secure and robust, the interior hub highlights bright and playful finishes and a design that reflects the four seasons.
