McLAIN HIGH SCHOOL MULTISPORT ARENA

Tulsa, OK
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 50,500

BUDGET: $11.8M

YEAR COMPLETED: 2019

PROJECT STATEMENT:
The McLain High School of Science and Technology Multisport Arena supports six teams and three sports. It also serves as a student testing facility and conference space. The arena seats 1,200 spectators and includes 11 locker rooms, a wrestling room, auxiliary gym, academic center, conference room, coaching offices, and a hospitality suite.

In response to the site’s poor soil conditions and lean budgetary requirements, the project team developed a design that utilized lightweight insulated panels and innovative structural systems. The exposed systems serve as a teaching aid for students. The thoughtfully located translucent panels provide ample natural lighting during the day and a soft glowing effect for the building at night.
