Putnam City HS Gymnasium

This high school’s original gym was built in the 1950s with a classic barrel vault roof, its bowstring truss system shielded from public display. Seeking to revitalize the gym for competitive use, the district sought to reveal its field house styling while adding a FEMA-rated safe room, an inspiring entryway, and other modern features. Our design revised the court to create a new seating bowl while adding the safety room and a two-story lobby. This provided a grand entrance for both the varsity gym and the neighboring performing arts auditorium. Our 23,700-square-foot renovation/expansion also provided a new hospitality suite, locker rooms, sports medicine facilities, coaching offices, ticketing, spirit store, and concessions.
